The journey of a thousand miles...

...starts with just one step.

So, I begin here.  It will not be a fast thing, it will not be a perfect thing, but it is a thing and I will do this.  There will be missteps along the way and I may not get exactly to where I want to be.  I am putting this out there so others can see that it is not always the success story we see all over the media.

My name is Rachel Wohld and I weigh 305 pounds.  I am 5 foot 2 3/4 inches tall and my body-mass index (BMI) is approximately 55.  I am 44 years old and have degenerative disc problems in my spine, I have knee pain constantly that requires about 3 grams of ibuprofen a day just so I can function, and next week I will have my gall bladder removed.  My feet burn all the time and working three 12 hour shifts in a row really takes it out of me.  I am doing this for my health  and for my kids.

I have two little guys at home that I cannot keep up with and it kills me to know that Mommy cannot play with them like she should.  My goal is to lose 100 pounds and be able to run with them.  I do not know how long this will take, but I can say I hope to do it before I die.

An added benefit would be to look good for the man I love.  He says that he loves me just the way I am, but I know that it could be better.  After all, I see all these women with skinny little waists and I wish I could look like them.  I will never be that little, but it never hurts to dream.  LOL

I will not be putting any pictures up on the front page here, no sense in scaring someone into a heart attack. But, if you must see I will have a separate page for those.

So, I take those first hesitant steps with those who are brave enough to tune in and if no one does, oh well I will take them anyway.
